Default Strategies? Hopefully these help

I find that placing a poison mage at the points where monsters come out to be useful, since poison can last a long time at high mage levels (though it does not deal very significant damage).

Dexers are excellent when they can attack a line of enemies as long as possible due to their critical hits being quite vicious. Place red mages where tey can focus their firepower on places where their targets will be close together (such as crossroads. Purple mages as well as blue mages should be sprinkled around so that an enemy is always slowed and weakened.

Sprinkle the generalists around, similar to purple and blue mages, but try to place many near the end of the monster's path, as they can quickly reduce the few remaining targets to ash quite quickly.

If possible, conserve your gold as much as possible, the high-level special units like the necromancer can deal a very large amount of damage (the necromancer deals 50 per blast) at a very nice range (base 3 tile range, mages have 2, dexers have 1, you do the math)

I personally do not believe it is possible to beat the marathon map. I've tried again and again to perfect my strategy but its no use. Wave 48 destroys me completely. I can't even come close to beating. Plus.... wtf is up with the demons? They are so overpowered! Some waves of them you can't even kill 1!
Anywho enough of my angry rantings... if some1 could post a screenshot of beating marathon I'd be thoroughly impressed... since my 3 weeks of attempts have still yielded nothing.

-Oh yea strategies... basically I have found that its best to start building towers from the end and work your way towards the front (for most maps, excluding the first). This allows your last line of defence to not be quite so puny.
-I also avoid specializations like the plague, they just plain useless. There are so many immunities that half the time any kind of special does not work. Another reason is that for the mages, the extra range from 5 generalizations at adept is very useful and the increased speed at grandmaster is also very nice.
-I found that it is best to use as little melee as possible. You can't get away with none but the less the better. Air is just too difficult if you focus on melee too much.
-Other than those few strategies it mostly learning the map and the different strengths and weaknesses of waves. One of my many things I did to increase my chances of beating marathon was to make a list of all the waves and their strength/weakness. I found that waves are more likely to be strong to physical damage (melee/archers) and least likely to be strong to poison. Energy and Fire I found to be the most likely to do extra damage against the waves and poison the least likely.
-I hope this lengthy list of my strategies help some of you. (btw, I left out unit placement because it changes with each map, same thing with which types of towers to use, although necromancers are my favorite, can't beat the 250+ damage at elder)

One more thing: Necromancers at maximum level if you get specialist all the time have 100% necrosis, that's a good damage bonus EVERY HIT.(the bonus goes up every kill he gets)
PS: +rep for effort.

Default Marathon

While I did beat the marathon once, I didn't take a screenshot... but it did take me many, many attempts (being forced to guard two separate paths is always a pain). What exactly does necrosis do, anyways? Is it similar to critical hit?
