Lets do some math here. For non-upgraded:
Lets calculate damage/second. Pulse Emitter: 750 damage/6 seconds = 125 dmg/sec Flamethrower: 4 damage/ 0.15 seconds = 26 2/3 dmg/sec Now cost. Pulse Emitter = $1000 Flamethrower = $600 Pulse Emitters cost 1 2/3 X as much as the flamethrower. Multiply 26 2/3 by by 1 2/3. Pulse Emitter Value: 125 Flamethrower Value: 44.444444 Finally range. Flamethrowers have 120 range and Pulse Emitters 70. Not even twice as much. Pulse Emitters though have a blast radius of 70 while flamethrowers have 25. This means that Pulse Emitters hit almost 3 times as many targets, which I think more than makes up for the range. Now for fully upgraded tower comparison. Pulse Emitter: 6000 damage/ 6 seconds = 1000 dmg/sec Flamethrower: 32 damage/ 0.15 seconds = 213 1/3 dmg/sec Pulse Emitter: $6600 Flamethrower: $3960 Pulse Emitter Value: 1000 Flamethrower Value: 355.5555555 Flamethrowers have 135 range and Pulse Emitters have 85. About 1 1/2 X as much range. Pulse Emitters have a blast radius of 85, Flamethrowers have a blast radius of 25. 3.4 X as much. Unless I made an error somewhere, (which I probably did [Tiny numbers on the game screen...]), Pulse Emitters are better even if i did make an error somewhere it probably will not matter much. Correct me if I am wrong though. Sorry bierkieser, I crunched the numbers. Pulse emitters are a better value. ![]() .
