Default New game mode

The latest update of HexTD added a new game mode: Assault.
It is a single player game mode based on multiplayer. Like in mp you and your computer opponent(s) each have a base. You and your opponent(s) have to buy creeps to attack the others base and you have to defend your base from enemy attack. The computer starts with a fixed base and doesn't buy new towers.

Every five seconds you get income. For every creep you buy your income is increased. Your base has a creep-pool that slowly fills up to a maximum.

Upgrading your base increases your creep pool, the speed that the creep pool fills, the maximum health of the creeps you can buy and the creep types you can buy.

Right now there are only a few Assault levels (First Contact to Final Push) so break out the (also updated!) level editor and make some more!

Hey, great idea. Really, it is great!

1)So its like a Multiplayer but alone?
2)Map Final Push still needs information
3)Hey! That Map Test looks GREAT!

The Noid, could you make a category for the Assault mode? I had to search for the maps, and I think a category for them would fit perfectly.
And yes, the Map test looks great! Really not the same style, but still hexagonal. I like it.

By the way, any chance of an "assault" map editor? ( I haven't made a map in a while so sorry if it's already implemented...)

Yes, it's like multiplayer, but on your own.

The categories need TST to update the map-scripts on the site so we can add category information. Right now the site gives the game a maplist without categories, so the game just puts 'em all in one category without a proper name.

I also intend to make a campaign of assault maps (or make Thex make one )

I've also [s]updated[/s]overhauled the map editor so you can make complete maps in it. With one little omission, you can't yet set the owner and target of the paths (doh)

If you want to have the map code a little more readable, you can use http://jsonformatter.curiousconcept.com/ to format it into an indented, multi-line format instead of compacted into one line.

We're gonna need some story...
Starting with easy maps that introduce the different towers and enemies and slowly introduce all different game features. A bit like what I did in the 5 current Assault maps, but more complete

Yes, adding more maps showing the basics:
*All of the towers being level 1*

1 map with some green towers (so you could use red creeps boss)
1 map with some red towers (so you could use green creeps boss)
1 map with some yellow towers (so you could use any-color swarm monsters. Blue creeps for preference)
1 map with some blue towers (so you could use yellow creeps boss)

After showing this, we get to know that:

Red towers do less damage to Green creeps
Green towers do less damage to Red creeps
Yellow towers do less damage to Blue creeps
Blue towers do less damage to Yellow creeps

Now it would be good if we enter the combinations:

1 map with some green and yellow towers
1 map with some red and blue towers (that would be hard (splash and slow))

And so on...
