I can't seem to get past wave 41. They increase HP at an insane rate and I can't keep up. I've tried varying between lvl5,6,7 gems and a few lvl7 and some lvl6 gems has produced the best results so far. Any tips?

I've tried for higher waves mostly on the lower dozen or so maps. Are there any that you have found to work best?

pump several of your gems with grade 1 gems as in GC1, this will pump their firing speed to 225+skill% and range to 180+skill% (which plays bad in fact, so I don't think that I would pump the range% skill at all), as well as adding (1-3)-(3-5) damage to the gem per combine. That will produce a 'super-gem', with insane damage and rate of fire. You might stick to dual bonuses without hesitation, as well as you might get several of such gems. My best was wave 72, at which point I was plainly bored of another endurance, and conceded, though if I would continue this practice with gems, I might reach up to wave 100 I think.

DrNy, combine one grade 3+ gem with several hundred of grade 1 gems one by one, make sure you drag higher gem over the lower one each time.

Start dumping rank ones into the second trap. I've managed to make a trap with a firing speed of 400 with 80% change to have an extra hit and 6% for triple damage. It was hitting for 30-40. Might not sound like much but it was landing at least 10 to 12 hits per mob or hitting every mob (except slow immune) for an average of about 450 before armour. |

I use some pumped up mana gain traps for 12 mana per hit, and then a row of them. This way I can just make some towers and fill them with high and superhigh grade gems (I had 5 grade 8 gems firing last time
)

Asmordean, I still wonder if there's a damage cap for gems of grade 3 or higher. I have managed to get a grade 3 gem to ~200-600 once, and a grade 11 gem to ~400-1100, while that grade 3 gem costed some ~8k mana, and grade 11 gem costed some 128k just to form, and only ~4k was spent to boost it. I do expect you might wish to create a single grade 9 gem and do the rest with grade 4-7, or grade 3 if you started with one and pumped it high already.
About the other caps - the range of all grade 3+ gems is capped at 180+skill%, and firing speed of all grade 3+ gems is capped at 275 (with maxed firing speed+ skill). Gems in traps with yellow component active have a boost to range and firing speed depending on the weight of yellow and the trap specials boost skill rank. People say the cap is 1701, my trap gem with firing speed of 1200 was already firing at 1 attack per frame. |
