Not too sure if this is a bug or not but heres what i found
If playing in sandbox (or regular play, but the sandbox way is more duplicable) on the first pick of the dice, if you upgrade your chances to maximum, then place your gems, you will likely get one of the two chipped combo gems (malachite or silver). But! if you happen to get a perfect gem as well (I found that ruby perfects seem to work most often) sometimes it will say "combine" when you select the perfect gem. if you do in fact combine it, the result is a great gem. which more often than not is better in the long run (esp for survival/sandbox) Is this a bug? or is this legit? it also works with other gems, not necessarily perfects (perfect just happens to combine into a great however) and gives the next level gem (flawless into perfect, etc.) Unfortunately every time i have done this, i have been to excited to see which gem the perfect is combining with, but most of the time there is no other gem of that color, or nature (type or size, if you will) i shall edit when i do it again, and tell what 2 gems specifically i combined. Edit: (yes that was quick i know.) well i did it, but not with a perfect. heres some pics they are from the same game. Gem 1: (normal aqua) http://img528.imageshack.us/my.php?i...icture1nw9.png Unrelated Gem 2: (chipped diamond) http://img340.imageshack.us/my.php?i...icture2zj3.png Combined gem: (flawless aqua FROM the combination of the two above.) http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?i...icture3nu2.png I shall keep trying for a great in this manner... This has happened to me too, though I never created anything better then "Flawed" gems... Occasionally when I pick my first five (Chipped) gems, one of them will have a normal "Combine" command, despite having no duplicates around, and what is weirder, it combines to make a flawless gem of a different type. Weird hunh?

but this is not just a first pick incidence, i have had this happen mid game... like i said before i don't have any info about which gems it was, but it seems a bit odd... |

Yes, there are great gems. You can get one by getting at least 2 of the same perfect gem. They are hard to get but pretty good.

Oh, do you mean combing chipped gems and you get a flawless gem? I was answering the first post about great gems.
If you have 2 of the game gem in one pick, you can combine those 2 for a higher level gem. 2 chipped becomes 1 flawed, 2 flawed becomes 1 normal, 2 normal becomes 1 flawless, 2 flawless becomes 1 perfect. But your post said that you combine chipped to become a "flawless" gem? Or you can combine a normal gem (as in the screenshot) with nothing? That has never happened to me. I usually do not play sandbox so maybe sandbox has a bug somewhere. Has this ever happened on a normal game?

Tubias, the pictures are of 2 gems being combined. that happened on the same roll. and as with any combination (like the one you described) you can pick for the combination to be at either gem location. so to show what happened i took a picture of both gems with a "combine" option, assuming that those were the two that were combining. I am just commenting on the fact that it is easier to get a chipped and another gem and combine them ( in the documented case into a flawless ) than it might be to get the gem otherwise ( especially in regards to a great gem )
basically... i was proposing that on the first round of a sandbox game (sorry i have no pics of it, i have been rather busy as of late) if you get a chipped gem, and a perfect gem, you can combine them into a great gem. which would be easier than combining 2 perfects ( the normal way ) into a great gem. I assume this is a bug. but it seems very repeatable. to if it has happened on a normal game, if i remember correctly YES, but i could be confused with a sandbox game. Sorry to be confusing... which i am fairly certain i still will be. |

Yeah I've also had it not give me the 'combine special' button when I was pretty sure
I had all the right gems, and maybe I made a mistake but I'm pretty sure it 'did' me ![]() Also if you have enough of the same level gems it will 'combine' to the next level, so for instance 4 chipped rubies gives you a normal, I seen as much. But if I have 2 chipped rubies and 1 flawed then it won't give me a norm...
