After a few runs through on quick cash I'm starting to wonder, is it the maze layout, or is it the tower? Using the pic here for an example.
After emitters I tried heavy cannons on the edge of each turn, then plasma cannons. Same result every time, the maze goes down around wave 126. No matter which tower used.
An all machine gun map had about the same result. Though this one took a lot of nukes to make it that far.
Looking back on the results it seems like no one cannon has an edge over the other, the sheer HP of the creeps just overwhelms everything you throw at them regardless. More so in the case of air units. So does that mean that it's not really the towers, so much as the maze you build? I'm thinking a line of heavies below the first machine gun track may pile up the area effect better, but that's changing the design. It still doesn't the question of why the various towers all seem to be uniform in effectiveness.
Still need to try a map with flamethrowers or laser cannons along that design, but I wouldn't be surprised if the results are close to the same. Any thoughts?
